Hybridization between dogs and wolves is frequent in Italy. Tabù, one of Wildnose’s dogs, helps researchers at the Vetmed University of Vienna understand whether hybridization is more common in more densely populated areas.
Hunting for wolf poop
Emys is a turtle species endemic to Italy, but it is threatened by invasive species and habitat loss. Edith and Ingrid from Wildnose help researchers at the University of Bern discover where they nest in order to protect their environment.
A nose for turtles
Two of Wildnose’s dogs, Kappa and Olivia, worked with researchers at the University of Parma on the early detection of Parkinson’s. Not exactly nature and conservation! But the project trained the dog-handler teams in the rigor of scientific laboratory work.
